The video above talks about some basics of judo. One important part that I was interested in is the basic stance. I've learnt that the basic stance changes depending on if the person is left or right handed. A right handed person's stance would look something like this image below. The right leg and right arm will be slightly more forward than the left. You would also want to have a strong stance, with your legs shoulder width apart, as you aim to get your opponent on the ground. This stance will help you keep your own balance.
Below is another video demonstrating the basic stances and the importance of balance
The obi worn is coloured to indicate rank. Early examples has short sleeves and shorter trouser legs, compared to the modern long-sleeved version. Blue judogi exist, as can be seen above, and is worn by one of the two competitors so that judges, referees and spectators can easily differentiate the two. However, Japanese practitioners and traditionalists tend to look down on the use of the blue as judo is considered a pure sport so the colour should remain white. In Japan the colour of the belt is related to the age of the practitioner.
Below are some judo related poses, relating specifically to the defensive stance, with the feet wider apart.
